Most people want to know the same handful of things before they commit to a date: whether we’re properly registered, how pricing works compared to a vague phone estimate, what happens when a gravel driveway or a private well is involved, how we handle a historic home near G Street, and what happens to belongings if a closing date moves.
If something’s missing here, just call the yard directly. Getting an answer beforehand always beats finding out mid-move, especially once a truck is already committed to a long gravel approach.
Do you handle the move yourselves, or does it go to a broker?
+
The actual movers, every time. Grants Pass Movers is an Oregon-registered, insured moving company, and the trucks that show up are ours with a crew we put on the road ourselves. All four trucks are titled to the company, every mover carries our W-2 check, and one name sits behind every job. Your move is never posted to a load board, never sold to a subcontractor, and never routed through a middleman. The hands that load your home and the name on your invoice are one and the same.
Are you genuinely licensed and insured?
+
Yes — an Oregon-registered household-goods mover with full cargo coverage on every load, in good standing right now. We carry the insurance the state and interstate side both require, and we'll hand you a certificate of insurance if a building or property manager asks for one. That coverage applies the same whether it's a two-bedroom in town or a long haul down I-5, so the household that trusts us is backed the entire way.
Flat rate or hourly?
+
A phone-quote hourly rate sounds cheap right up until move day, when the clock starts and a gravel driveway, a staircase, or a long carry stack the bill up past what you were told. Our way reverses that. We price the entire job as one flat per-truck-and-crew rate agreed before a soul touches the first box, quoted upfront in writing, with driveway and rural access already folded in. The estimate is the invoice, so if the day runs long, that overrun is on us, never you.
Do you handle rural properties with long driveways or private wells?
+
Constantly — it's most of what we do. A quarter-mile of gravel out past Murphy, a hillside lane that turns to mud after rain, or a well that needs its shutoff found before the washer's disconnected all get planned before the truck leaves the yard. Jesse's crew stages a smaller truck at the road when a driveway calls for it, and none of that shows up as a surprise charge later.
What if my closing date pushes back — will you hold my things?
+
We will, and out here it happens often — sale and closing dates rarely line up on the same calendar square, and a rural well inspection can add weeks on its own. Everything goes into a clean local storage unit and sits there for as long as the gap runs, charged month to month by unit size. As soon as your new keys are in hand, the same crew loads it all back up and delivers it.
How does valuation work?
+
You choose between two coverage levels. The no-charge baseline is released-value protection, which settles at 60 cents per pound per item — fine for sturdy furniture, thin for anything irreplaceable. Move up to full-value protection and the add-on typically runs one to three percent of the value you declare, with cargo coverage behind the load as well. Walk us through what's actually on the truck and we'll point you to the tier that fits.
Do you handle historic homes and tight staircases?
+
Regularly. Hector's crew works the G Street and Fruitdale-area craftsman bungalows built long before modern furniture existed, and they plan the turn on a narrow original staircase before move day rather than improvising at the door. That planning is part of the same flat quote, not a separate charge.
When do I pay?
+
Payment is due once the final box is set in its spot; cash, check, or a major card all work. Because the number was written down before the truck ever left NE 6th St, nobody is doing math at the curb and no inflated total shows up at the end. What you signed at booking is exactly what you owe at delivery.
What if I need to call off the move?
+
Closings fall through and dates get reshuffled constantly, and after running moves in Josephine County since 2013, none of it rattles us. Give us as much notice as you can, and we'll move your date — no penalty, no hassle. The only thing we ask is enough warning that the day you're releasing can go to the next family on the waitlist.
Do you own the trucks, and are the crew your own employees?
+
Both, yes. Every truck at the NE 6th St yard is titled to Grants Pass Movers, and every mover in our shirt is a W-2 employee we hired and trained ourselves — never day-labor, never a subcontractor. There's no scrambling for hired help that morning, and your job never shifts to a different company. The person who wrote your quote is on the crew that pulls up to your door.
